The 5 Best E-Bike Routes in Acadia National Park (by Distance & Difficulty)

May 22, 2026
A calm lake surrounded by forest along an Acadia National Park carriage road route

Acadia National Park has more than 45 miles of car-free carriage roads, plus quiet paved roads with ocean views.

That is a lot of ground to cover.

Here are the best e-bike routes in the park, sorted by distance and difficulty, so you can pick the right ride for your group.

How to Choose Your Route

Think about three things before you start:

  • How far you want to ride
  • How much climbing you are comfortable with
  • How much time you have

The good news: an e-bike flattens the hills, so routes that feel hard on a regular bike become easy and fun.

Eagle Lake Loop (Easy to Moderate)

This is the classic first ride and a favorite for good reason.

  • About 6 miles around the lake
  • Smooth carriage roads the whole way
  • Clear water and mountain views

It is the perfect introduction to riding in Acadia.

Witch Hole Pond Loop (Easy)

Short, scenic, and great for families.

  • Roughly 3 to 4 miles
  • Gentle terrain
  • Ponds, marshes, and a good chance of seeing wildlife

This loop starts near the Hulls Cove area, close to where we can deliver your bikes.

Jordan Pond and the Stone Bridges (Moderate)

One of the most photogenic rides in the park.

  • Calm water framed by the Bubbles mountains
  • Historic stone carriage road bridges
  • Jordan Pond House for popovers and a break

Note that some carriage roads near Jordan Pond are private and do not allow e-bikes, so check our map and the signs to stay on approved roads.

Around-the-Mountain Loop (Advanced)

For riders who want a real adventure.

  • About 11 to 12 miles
  • The most climbing of any carriage road loop
  • Sweeping views and far fewer crowds

This is where an e-bike truly earns its keep, turning a tough climb into a steady, enjoyable ride.

Bar Harbor to the Park (Easy, Paved)

You can ride straight from town into the park.

  • Start in downtown Bar Harbor
  • Connect to the park entrance and carriage roads
  • No car or parking needed

It is a simple way to begin your day if you are staying nearby.

Quick Route Comparison

  • Witch Hole Pond Loop: about 3 to 4 miles, easy
  • Eagle Lake Loop: about 6 miles, easy to moderate
  • Jordan Pond area: moderate and very scenic
  • Around-the-Mountain Loop: about 11 to 12 miles, advanced

Why Ride These Routes on an E-Bike

Acadia is not flat.

An e-bike lets you:

  • Cover more miles without getting worn out
  • Handle the hills with ease
  • Visit two or three areas in a single day
  • Skip crowded parking lots completely

Before you ride, it helps to know where e-bikes are allowed in Acadia National Park.
